Fonroche solar streetlights to be rolled out in Senegal

French solar lighting specialist will provide 50,000 street lamps to cover a quarter of Senegal. The French State is a major stakeholder in the deal having provided financial support, whilst French construction company Eiffage will undertake street-level installation.

Senegal: Hardel Le Bihan creating housing for 10,700 students in Dakar

As part of the rehabilitation of the University of Cheikh Anta Diop in Dakar, itself closely linked to the ‘Plan for an Emerging Senegal’ launched in 2015 by President Macky Sall, architecture practice Hardel Le Bihan is creating 27 new buildings designed to house 10,700 students on behalf of Amsa Realty, the real estate subsidiary of the Compagnie Financière de l’Ouest Africain.

100% French metro will unclog Ivory Coast’s financial capital

Abidjan’s first metro line will open to passengers in 2022. The project promises to kick start a new era for the choked financial capital of Côte d’Ivoire and its population of over 5 million. Funded by France, the infrastructure will be constructed by an exclusively French consortium comprising Bouygues TP, Colas Rail, Alstom. The urban railway will be operated by Kéolis.

Morocco Franco-Moroccan design partnership signs Casa-Port station in Casablanca

Casa-Port railway station – the result of close collaboration between French multi-disciplinary consultancy AREP and Moroccan architecture group G3A – gave the SNCF subsidiary a foothold in Morocco. Four years after the station’s inauguration, AREP’s founder and Chairman of its Management Board, Etienne Tricaud, explains the project’s fundamental principles and the benefits of this co-design.
